The South-west
Home to many marinas and some sandy beaches, this region is just a short transfer from Palma and is popular for a short break or a more leisurely stay.
Costa d’En Blanes has a rocky coastline interspersed with tiny sandy bays. There are several first class golf courses in the area and excellent tennis facilities. The beautiful inland region of Calvia is easily accessible by car. A palm tree lined inland promenade links this area with nearby resorts including Port de Portals Marina.
Shady avenues lined with imposing villas create the lovely Bendinat headland. Peaceful and serene, this is a lovely spot for a tranquil holiday. An ideal year round resort, Illetes is sheltered and quiet in winter, yet cosmopolitan and typically Continental in summer. There are a few shops and bars locally and in nearby Cala Major.
A former fishing village has evolved into the internationally famous marina of Port d’Andratx, where lines of sleek white yachts provide a dazzling display of power and wealth in total contrast to the simple fishing boats anchored nearby. A diversity of chic boutiques and restaurants line the harbour-side adding to the cosmopolitan atmosphere. Further inland, Puigpunyent is a pretty village amid spectacular scenery.
